Description:

This is a 2d PC game called “Permeaborne” which is an action, platformer, puzzle game like the games “Braid” and “Bloody trap land”. The character is to be an ancient tomb like mummy character that is reborn (cursed) with the ability to turn permeable/invisible meaning that the mummy can turn invisible and allow enemies, crumbling rubble from cracked platforms and projectile emissions to pass through them at the cost of gradually decreasing the player’s life gauge as soon as these objects pass on through.

The player must decide when to use the curse to their advantage without losing too much of their life to navigate through these subsections. The mummy must break the curse by collecting three artefacts that are a part of the mummies body including the head, torso, and legs. These artefacts will bestow the player with passive buffs that will help them towards collecting each piece as they progress and once all three pieces are collected the character has been uncursed and has finished the game.

Can you get your body back?

Press Quotes:

"Hmm a human that has been cursed and has become a mummy? That has the powers to become passthrough and can glide? Why would you want to return back to a human? Being a human is not all that great. Anyhow the game is a nice twist to the 2d puzzle platformer genre where the player character can not destroy enemies directly but indirectly or not at all using the passthrough ability and still progress through the level to return to being human what more could you ask for?"

Tudor Sparks, Gameinspects

"For a 2d platformer you would expect to destroy your enemies to progress, walk an jump, collect some kind of collectables and make it to the end. However, this game does things slightly differently it has the collect the collectables mechanic but with the collectables being relevant towards your progress in the game and offering you a choice of destroying your enemies or simply to slip through them or glide over them while gauging your ability bar that allows for a interesting and flipped experience then you are use to so try this out"

About Development:

Permeaborne started development on the 12th October 2020 where we began with drafting out what kind of game we should create. We settled with a game about a human being that has been cursed and as a result they have been transformed into a mummy and would like to once again become human. We then progressed on a stage by stage process which cycled through the stages of prototype, alpha, beta and then release, where we started by bringing the details we had written in a worded document to life. Firstly, without including the audio and graphics and slowly worked our way upwards by adding those things and also bug fixing and adjusting concerns when necessary while doing so to achieve what we present now.
